Warm Up: Discuss with the person next to you how aroma, appearance, taste and texture affect the way you enjoy food.
Read pages 5 and 6. Draw up a table with the headings aroma, taste, texture and appearance. Write three foods under each heading which you love. ACTIVITY Does aroma affect taste? Research how much the taste of a food is liked to its aroma. Why do you think this might be the case? When could the taste of a food change and why? |

Using the sensory term word bank, write a dish or ingredient that is related to each word. (pick six words from each category) ACTIVITY Look at the pictures of these common foods. For each food, write a sentence to describe that aroma, appearance, texture and taste. Use appropriate words from the sensory word bank if needed. |
