ACTIVITY
Make a list of the main risk areas you can see in your school kitchen HEAT AND FIRE SAFETY Read the following safety practices and complete the activity.
ACTIVITY
Working in pairs, make a presentation with what you believe are the 5 most important rules that were in the video. For each rule, write why it is important and give an example and diagram. Presentations will be shared with Year 7 classes next week. |
KNIFE SAFETY
Have a small discussion about and occasion when you have cut yourself using a knife. Explain what you were doing when the accident occurred. What could you change so that it doesn't happen again? Write a safety sentence or a rule for each aspect of knife safety (using, storing, cleaning and sharpening). IDENTIFYING THE RISKS
Draw up a risk and safety table for your school kitchen. Suggest a simple rule that should be followed to avoid accidents occurring in each risk area you identify. Think about the following areas; stoves, ovens, floor, fridge, microwave, electrical appliances, knives and utensils. Use the information from your table to complete a safety poster for one of the risk areas. - Your poster should be bright and eye catching - Make sure the safety rule for the area is highlighted or easy to read.
